Not a Black Friday email

November 24, 2023

How have you been?

It feels to me as if 2023 has been a long year. Perhaps it’s all the inescapable events of the past 12 months that we may not think are affecting us personally, but with the best will in the world, will be having some impact.

And now it’s Black Friday and as if we haven’t got enough to do we must now either shop til we drop or ruminate about all those delicious bargains we’re missing. There’s no escape.

So welcome to TGI FaithDay

The anti-Black Friday email.

Remember in lockdown when I sent a newsletter every Friday? Well people have been saying they miss it, so I’ve decided to bring it back, but with a new focus.

TGI FaithDays will bring you tips and tricks to lift your marketing out of the doldrums and into the light. These are small flaws that I come across all the time, that I think are unnecessarily letting the side down when it comes to communicating what you do and the value of advice.

So come on chaps. This stuff isn’t getting easier – the short-term noise is as loud as it’s ever been – and so why not get the basics in order?

Let’s get on with today’s tip

Sweden’s equivalent of the Oxford English Dictionary has finally been completed, 140 years after work on it began. The Swedish Academy Dictionary consists of 33,111 pages spread across 39 volumes.

Work, however, must now begin again on the volumes that cover the letters A to R as these are now so old they need to be revised to include modern words such as ‘app’, ‘allergy’ and ‘computer’.

Imagine that. Being so focused on perfecting your Betamax while everyone else has switched to VHS.

TGI FaithDay Tip:

Check to see if your messages are showing their age. Are you still referring to:

·  E-zines

·  E-news

·  E-guide

Get with the programme, grandma! These words will date you quicker than you can say floppy disc.

Perhaps your website is asking people to:

·  Get social

·  Print this page

·  Receive a mailshot

Sometimes I miss the noughties. Then I remember UGG Boots. Don’t make me go back there.

Get me in your inbox, every Friday.

Thanks for signing up!
